Guided Tours

Tour 1: Tour of the Lustgarten

Where did the name ‘Lustgarten’ come from? What was there first – the palace, the museum, the cathedral or the Zeughaus armoury? Why does the Alte Museum look like a Greek temple and why is there a public passage through the reconstructed palace? Come round the Lustgarten with us and explore from various perspectives how the buildings relate to each other. The tour will end at the James-Simon-Galerie, the Museums Island's future entrance building designed by David Chipperfield.
